The MMA participates in various seminars and events throughout the year, through association with other organizations such as NAMM, EIA-CES, AES, NAB, The Society of Composers and Lyricists, Softbank Expos (Comdex and Windows World) and many others.

- 50 of the brightest minds in the computer industry once again traded the comforts and chaos of corporate America to converge on a secluded 360-acre ranch in Texas without TV's, phones or computers to discuss, argue, debate, brainstorm and possibly alter the course of history for music on computers over the next five years.

Computer Game Developers Conference
- April 25-29, 1997 -- Santa Clara CA
- The CGDC is an annual event of great importance for the interactive audio and music community. This years MMA/IASIG sponsored events included scheduled IASIG WG meetings, a special presentation by multimedia artist Thomas Dolby (Headspace), and a presentation by the MMA on the new Downloadable Sounds Level 1 Specification for audio developers.
NAB Multimedia World

- NAB's New Media Professionals Conference Program included an audio session on "Creating Interactive Audio for Multimedia", lead by IASIG Co-Chairman Mark Miller, and including panel members Dave Sparks (Sequoia), Steve Purves (Aura Systems), Josh Rosen (Macromedia) and Tom White (MMA).

August 1997 -- Orlando FL - MMA President Tom White spoke to invited print music publishers, SMF publishers, game developers, and tools developers about future trends and opportunities in MIDI Files, and the recent work of the MMA with MIDI file publishing and the US Copyright Office.
MMA Annual General Meeting

- The MMA holds its annual membership meeting each year at NAMM for the purpose of electing the board of directors and establishing the goals and working groups for the coming year. This years event included presentations by MMA President Tom White and MMA Special Counsel Brian Ward on MMA activities throughout 1996, as well as informative sessions on High Speed Audio/MIDI Networking, the new DLS-1 Specification, and SMF Copyrights and Licensing.
