Super MIDI Pak

Super MIDI Pak is a new cartridge for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) that turns it into a MIDI synthesizer. It gives your SNES MIDI In/Out connectors, so you can play it or sequence it using standard MIDI keyboards, sequencers and software. Super MIDI Pak is compatible with audio production tools and musical keyboards for live play, but if you prefer, Super MIDI Pak also gives you direct access to the SNES sound chip allowing you to bypass MIDI and program it directly. It is compatible with both NTSC and PAL versions of the Super Nintendo, as well as the Super Famicom and Super NT. Super MIDI Pak gives you access to 16 polyphonic channels with independent settings.

Super Nintendo music is beloved by many. It has inspired many people to create their own SNES-style music but emulating the SNES sound is not easily done. Super Midi Pak is the first of its kind to provide total authenticity to the SNES sound by turning your SNES into an actual, physical, playable MIDI synthesizer. In addition to the hardware itself, we’ve developed a companion web application that allows users to access all the advanced features of Super MIDI Pak such as: converting and uploading custom samples.

My customers/supporters are very passionate about the Super Mid Pak project and it has been very encouraging. MY beta testers have been able to create amazing music with the device, which sound better than lots of SNES music I’ve heard and gives me hope that Super Midi Pak could really improve this genre or bring about a new wave of original SNES music.
