It looks like all my devices are too old :(
Could anybody check if these MIDI files produce a "Dog" sound on a GM2-compatible synth?

Thanks a lot!

Using Winamp with VirtualMIDISynth (three different sf2 soundfonts), I get a bird chirp on the first one, and dog bark on the second.

Using MIDI Player (based on Yamaha S-YXG50) I get two different dog barks, one from each file.

My instrument editor shows the first as Bird Tweet (MSB 121, LSB 1, defaults to MSB 0 because there is nothing listed in MSB 121) and the second as Dog (percussion kit 56 SFX Kit).

I have seen that with some hardware devices, "The MSB Value of GM2 for Voice is 121 and Drum is 120".

On the SC-8820, the same barks in both files. But the 121:1:123 one has more reverb applied by default.

Both files sounded as dog barking when played through a Roland BK-9.

This also barks in both Winamp and MIDI Player.

FYI, XG also has yet another dog bark which should be accessible in XG mode using MSB 126, LSB 0, PC 84, if you want to make a test file for that ;)

Winamp: dog, piano (no XG support)
Midi Player: dog, dog! Second dog is higher pitched.
