I am pleased to announce that the first complete soundtrack for the SNES MIDI Remaster Project is now online!
I have been working on this project for ages. I am remastering soundtracks from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as GS MIDI Files, and uploading the completed soundtracks as a video to YouTube, and as downloadable MIDI and mp3 versions of individual files on my Google drive. A huge shout out to everyone on this forum who has helped me learn all about the technical aspects of MIDI along the way.

Interesting project! I didn't play either of the currently transcribed games enough to recognize much beyond Super Castlevania IV's "Theme of Simon," but I'm excited to see where this takes you. I tend to remember more clearly the themes from the NES era, but that's probably because I had an NES and (a Genesis) for longer than I had a SNES.

A protoype for Super Castlevania IV was leaked in 2020, with work-in-progress versions of tracks that would end up in the final game, plus a track that never saw the light of day. The variations are interesting to hear, and a must-listen for any Castlevania enthusiast.

My newest soundtrack is now available for listening and download!
Axelay is a space shooter made by Konami.
This soundtrack has posed the biggest challenge to date for me, with many quirks and issues that had to be overcome to get a final sound I am quite pleased with. As a result, it took more than twice as long to complete as any of my previously released soundtracks.

This is awesome so I want to thank you for making these files available.
I just have one question. When I listened to some of your tracks on youtube I wondered why they appear a bit lifeless and I discovered they are in mono. Any reason for that? I suspect they would sound a ton better if you gave the instruments some room in a stereo mix. General Midi is stereo.

Erm, I'll have to check that. They all SHOULD be stereo. SNES music makes heavy use of stereo, and if it got lost somewhere in the process, that'll be rather lame

I just checked, every video plays back fine on YouTube (on my laptop) at 1080p, 60 FPS, stereo. Sounds good on my end!
A note that I don't modify any of the original stereo separation, so whatever was present in the actual game is also present in the MIDI files. But everything is stereo.
Unkai in Axelay is a good track with clear stereo separation to check, as well as Level 1 in Prince Of Persia, and The Cave in Super Castlevania IV.

The next soundtrack, Super Double Dragon, is now complete! I have improved the percussion display/functionality in MIDI-MIS (my MIDI Musical Instrument Switcher, work in progress) so I am now able to more easily make selections for percussion, which really helped with this soundtrack, and will make any future percussion-heavy soundtracks easier to finish. I chose this soundtrack as my next one because it would be "easy", but still posed plenty of unexpected percussion-related challenges. Thankfully, it did not require any of the more intense manual pitch/volume/missing notes corrections of some of my previous soundtracks.
