I am currently working on a project where I work with ticks being converted to ms in order to have certain parameters related to tempo (like a synchronized LFO or delay time) .
I need to implement swing/groove abilities and was wondering how it works in midi. Do the duration of ticks slightly change when groove/swing is applied ?

There is no standard method. It would be possible to either change the tick duration, or to move the events to some other tick.
