MIDI Clock MIDI Start

Hi Team,
After our bass player dropped his bottom lip and done a bunk I have enlisted the help of my Roland Sonic Cell to assist in keeping the bottom end alive. Old Rolay is very good but very unforgiving when my drummer and I miss a beat. I have added a click track to the bass file but this is not enough. I have purchased a Visual metronome but this will only work if I set up MIDI Clock and MIDI start. How do I do this? In the software or the file player?
