Hello! I have a Roland F-90 Digital Piano that I use as my MIDI controller. It's connected to my PC via an Ashton brand MIDI-to-USB cable. The problem is that when pressing more than one key, some of the notes keep sustaining when I let go of the keys and I have to press those stuck notes for them to stop. Because of this I can't play chords, pads or complex leads. This has happened on every DAW and virtual synth/keyboard I've used so far, so I doubt it's an issue within my computer. I suspect it's my MIDI cable that's causing the issue since it was on the cheap side, but I need to know for sure before deciding to invest in higher quality gear. Has anyone else experienced this issue and does anyone know how to fix it? Huge thanks in advance!

I don't have any experience of this directly, but this is exactly the question/problem that comes up here repeatedly.
There are a number of the midi/usb adaptors on the market, and some are a lot better than others. Not sure if it's the design of the firmware in the adaptor, or the speed of the chips (it needs only 1 to be VERY slow) , but basically the midi data is not getting through 100%, bits are being 'lost', so notes are being lost, or NOTE OFF commands are not getting through. In your case, it's the OFFs, maybe they are more prone to hit the interface in a lump?
Better interfaces have been recommended in the past, and these seem to suddenly solve the problem.
The information you give suggests that the interface works fine up to a point, so seems everything else is OK. Past that certain point, the unit does not cope. Just needs to be faster?

I'm not in a position to make any sort of recommendation, but M-Audio sounds like a better known brand. I've heard of them.
However, note that one advert I just saw says that the 'Uno' product is NOT compatible with Yamaha products. No idea why that is. You use a Roland keyboard anyway? Is there a bit of a problem with some things? Unless someone else comes back about this?
The best suggestion would be to speak to a dealer, and see what they say/recommend. Even better if you can access a Roland dealer. But all depends on how easily you can access such a dealer?
