I am a Newbie and also a Music educator. I know very little about the technical aspects of MIDI interfaces and need some guidance. My goal is to do some song writing with my elementary students using the web-based application, Flat.io. Each student has their own Chromebook which is also a web-based platform. It runs Chromebook OS, and is NOT Windows compatible. I want my students to connect their devices to some older keyboards that I have (5 pin MIDI connections). The Chromebooks have a USB port. What type of MIDI interface do I need to purchase? I've contacted vendors, but they seem to not be familiar with Chromebooks. Thanks for any help you can provide.

ChromeOS is Linux; it supports all USB MIDI devices that are class compliant, i.e., that work without a separate driver in Windows or OS X. (And nowadays, all the simple USB MIDI interfaces indeed are class compliant.)
