This is the place to start conversations about the MIDI Association and the MIDI.org website.
As we are a non profit, volunteer based community, it's up to the people who work, play and create with MIDI to help guide the direction of the community and we welcome your feedback.

There is only one rule, be respectful of other individual members.

The download link at the bottom of the page https://dev.midi.org/specifications/item/the-midi-1-0-specification currently downloads the CC #88 document instead of the MIDI 1.0 specification.

Cheers

Yes, The spec section is still under construction. We are planning on doing some more work on it tomorrow and try to get as much as possible ready for the official launch next week. Thanks for mentioning it, we will take care of that tomorrow for sure.

I figured the Web site might not be entirely ready yet. :) It's showing great promise though, good work!

On the member's portal page, the text near the bottom of the page has a broken link. The sentence "So get connected, get creative and get involved... you can contact us here." the word "here" links to "https://dev.midi.org/contact-midi" instead of "https://dev.midi.org/contact-us"

Let me know if I should be reporting Web site problems elsewhere.

Cheers
Eddie
Thanks, and nice catch. We rebuilt the contact page and didn't change the link. You can post your comments here or email webmaster@midi.org directly.

Appreciate having other eyeballs on the site, we have been looking at the site for the past 6 months and sometimes we can't see the forest through the trees.:D

Are there any plans to make the messages on the previous MMA forum available to view?

The head section of the MIDI News page has a typo on it: "relaases" instead of "releases" :p

This should be interesting. I'm brand spanking new to MIDI and hope to learn how it works and how to incorporate it into my future home recordings. The site looks great.

Thanks , Eddie. It's fixed now. If you see anything else, let us know!

Welcome, check out the tutorials on the site and we would love to get feedback on whether they are helpful. Also try going to courses and signing up with NonLinearEducating to get access to 94 hours of free video training on MIDI. We had a great meeting with them at NAMM and have plans to provide even better site integration and in the near future MIDI certification!

One early forum usage experience is that the forum header basically take one full screen so there is a lot of scrolling in order to navigate around the forum. I can see the need for the way it looks currently but would just love if the header was shorter than it is now. Making the image less tall would indeed improve the situation. Have to add that I do enlarge the page a bit in the browser to make it more readable.

I came across this text on the profile image page:
Maximum file upload size is 2.24 TB [main_upload_maxsize: 128M].

Its probably just a forum software setting that could benefit from having a slightly less liberal value given the usual size of profile images. Other types of file uploads may need more space though.

Two other technical things:

  • when logging in, it takes you to the members page, instead of leaving you where you were (e.g.in a forum)
  • when you are writing a question and the session times out, you just get "Invalid token" blank page. (and lose your text)

I believe there is a typo error in https://www.midi.org/specifications/item/general-midi . The page says “for fine and course tuning” … pretty sure “coarse” was intended.

How do we flag posts as inappropriate?

There are people spamming the forums selling stuff unrelated to MIDI.

Unfortunately the spamming continues.

People are not going to want to visit a forum with this much spam in it. :(

Yes, it is VERY irritating.

I might be watching a specific thread, and see a new message, but it's just one of the spam things!

I use some other forums, and usually there is someone who can do something about this, either delete a post, or move it (i.e. keep a thread headed SPAM and move all such non-midi posts into that thread, so that the people who post that sort of thing can happily read each other's spam to their little heart's content).

Maybe the forum software does not allow such things?
