I have problems with MIDI triggering using electronic drums that i do not quite understand it probably have todo with VSTI's and their programming rather then MIDI issues. But i've been trying to trigger SOUNDFONT VSTI's, sampler VSTI's and drum VSTI's using my electronic drums. And it is only a few that actually response to the midi triggering, i know that my drums send on MIDI channel 10. But i have not restricted the hosts to any midichannel so i guess they listen to all?

I have a hard time to wrap what is going on, can it be they are programmed to need a longer timeperiod then a drumstroke, but then they would not trigger using a sequenser either?

What could it be, i have an old roland soundcanvas SC-7 it trigger without problem, some freeware drum VSTI like MT power drum do trigger, but most VSTI do not seem to notice the strokes. But my soundcard built in CREATIVE soundfont player have no problem what so ever to be triggered by the DD400 drumset but i tried half a dousin of soundfont VSTI's all trigger keyboard but none from the electronic drums and i am sure there are samples on the notes that the pads trigger.

Someone suggested it could be a cutoff filter sent from digital drum, any truth to that? If so could i just filter out those messages cc 74?

I had a short recollection that i may have done similar using midi OX and shortcircuit some 20 years ago. So i searched the net on midi-ox and note duration found something about it, but it says i need to map the notes in to out to set a duration. I am not sure i am up to it anymore.

Do anyone know a tool with midi in and out that can do this automaticly? I find the whole thing weird to say the least since it seem there is no problem to trigger hardware and evidently software made for the use like MT power drum have no problems. So what is the issue with most VSTI's really about? Have they just not tried with shorter note durations?

I don't get it a note on message is a note on message regardless duration? And it is kind of weird the hardware wired so that the note duration so short? But maybe it is about selling hardware.....
