I am very much a noob with MIDI, i am trying to do something which i am sure is simple but i guess i am not understanding some fundamentals.
I have a hex output and i want to turn this into sound. I have taken a basic .mid file and stripped away all but the header chunks (or at least what i think are the header chunks) and footer. To do this I created a simple .mid with one note and hex dumped the file, then added another note (using some online editor) and hex dumped this new file. I compared the two hex files and where the hex changed i understood this to be the sound data. Now what i want to do is take out that sound data and replace it with the hex of a file i want to hear. I keep getting errors to do with length which i assume is based on the length in the header and the actual length not matching. As i said i think i am missing some fundamentals of the structure of the file here.
Say i have a logfile, Is there a way where i can take the hex of a file and put it into a .mid file to essentially listen to the logfile? Or am i way off the mark here and this can't be done?
Thanks in advance.
