I have a Roland Fantom X6. I purchased a um-one and hooked it up to a window's 10 computer. I tried to connect the fantom to a DAW and the DAW sees the um-one but, I don't think, the Fantom. I can see that the light is on for USB side, but no lights on the midi side. Hitting keys etc doesn't have any effect as in making the lights work. So how would I test the midi in and out on the board to make sure they are still operational?
Hello,

You may need to install a driver. You can connect the Fantom directly to the X6 via a USB cable or by connecting the MIDI In/OUTs and using the UM-One.

Here is an explanation from Roland.

Also just in case, make sure that you have the out connected to the in and the in connected to the out of the UM-One. In other words, just try switching DIN connectors and see if it helps.

Please tell us exactly how you connected the X6 to the UM-One. And how did you configure the X6's MIDI ports?

If you have no other MIDI equipment to hook up to the Fantom directly, then use your DAW to record what you play and see if it records anything.
