Hi all, I'm a vocalist/guitarist using midi files.. I'm looking for a sysex solution for my roland sc8850. The global reverb level is 40 and I would like to turn it off, or reduce it on channel 2 only. I use channel 2 for the bass and usually have CC91 set around 10. Using sysex I have switched on the effects for this channel only and selecting the compressor to try and improve my bass sound. By doing this, its not responding to CC91 set at zero and the reverb is too much at a level of 40. (paging down within the compressor window, the reverb level is at 40). I think what i'm looking for is an Effect to Reverb level set around 10..or off completely. Can this be achievable by a sysex message or even a LSB or MSB setting? I have studied the manual from front to back but I just can't see it. Any advice would be well appreciated..

Unless I missed it, I don't see where you set the "EFX send level to reverb", which is at address 40 03 17.
Put your desired value in that address and I believe you will get what you want. The default is 28h, so if you want less, then use a lower value.

Post a MIDI file with an example of what you are doing. For example, use channel 1 without the compressor with reverb set the way you want it and use channel 2 with the compressor.
I have an SC-8850 and will be happy to help you figure this out.

It is not quite clear what exactly you want.
There are separate "Reverb Send Level" controllers for all channels (CC91) and for the output of the insertion effect, but there is only a single "Reverb Level" control because there is only a single Reverb module. (You could install a second reverb as EFX, but there is no multi effect that combines reverb and compressor.)

Hi guys and thanks for your rapid response. I have attached a sample of one of my midifiles with all the sysex messages I use. Just to mention, I use a roland mc50 mk2 for creating my files then save them on to my laptop. The sound canvas goes directly into my desk and then thru the PA. I'll try to explain more clearly what i'm trying to achieve: At the start of each file using sysex, I turn on the insertion effect on channel 2 and select 14 Compressor. Now when I scroll down within the compressor window, the settings are - Attack 72, Sustain 100, Post Gain +6, Low Gain +12, High Gain 0dB, +PAN 0, #Level 104, EFX to Rev 40, EFX to Cho 0, EFX to Dly 0. I'ts the EFX to Rev 40 that I want to reduce.. Really all I want is to produce a more punchier, tighter, even volumed bass sound from low notes to high notes on my sc8850..without adding any more equipment to my set-up....I already have one knee replacement.. Just as a matter of interest, can u add compression to individual drums on the 8850? Apologies for repeating from my original post..
